Our R&D centre of excellence are looking for a Scientist to join our Artificial Intelligence Research Team, based in Edinburgh, Scotland. The AI Research Team develops cutting-edge machine learning algorithms for clinical decision support, bioinformatics, and medical data analysis, used in product development at Canon Medical Systems R&D centres worldwide. You will be responsible for the creation and development of innovative algorithms and solutions to empower advanced industry-leading medical applications.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Bioinformatics and Machine Learning Scientist, who enjoys working as part of a team, with the drive to innovate and develop new skills. You will have an advanced degree qualification (MSc, PhD or equivalent) and a proven understanding and experience in applying machine learning to -omics datasets. You should have experience of working with transcriptomic, genomic and related datasets, using bioinformatics techniques such as mutational analysis, gene enrichment analysis, gene interaction networks. Knowledge of cancer genomics and clinical aspects of cancer is highly desirable, as is familiarity with a range of bioinformatics databases – such as COSMIC, ClinVar, STRING, cBioPortal. A solid foundation in both traditional and deep machine learning principals is essential; experience with graph convolutional networks would be beneficial. We mostly code in Python with Pandas, Sklearn, PyTorch etc.; R with BioConductor is used where appropriate. A high standard of software engineering practice is essential.
Depending on experience, you may be expected to provide scientific guidance to the team and other groups within the company and supervise students working within the company. Academic publication of research is encouraged.
