The Role
The successful candidate will lead the global bioinformatics function and be responsible for many aspects of data including architecture, access, classification, standards, integration, pipelines and visualization in support of Research, Translational, and Commercial functions. Your job will be to implement bioinformatic workflows in line with user requirements to place data at the fingertips of stakeholders and enable science to go faster. You will join an enthusiastic, agile, fast-paced bioinformatics team.
Responsibilities

Plan and implement the overarching Genmab bioinformatic strategy
-
Implement and maintain bioinformatic workflows for processing data generated in the wet lab and in the public domain
-
Data analysis and visualization using R
-
Use your excellent background in a variety of data types from Discovery Research to Commercial including genomics, flow cytometry, imaging, circulating biomarkers, claims and EMR
-
Bioinformatics pipeline development on HPC or Cloud platform
-
Implement open-source Bioinformatics tools/packages (GATK, Bioconductor, etc.) and Biological databases (UCSC, ENSEMBL, GEO, TCGA, dbsnp, etc.)

Implement genetic variant calling algorithms using WGS, WES data

Analysis of large-scale omics data (e.g. whole genome sequencing, exome-seq, amplicon sequencing, RNA-seq, etc.) and uncovering new biological insights.

Automation of data flow and pipelines

Develop interfaces that allow for direct access to data generated in the wet lab and in the public domain, and that provide statistical and machine learning insights

Implement and maintain databases for raw and processed genomics data

Maintain a current knowledge of data related technologies

Manage relationships with bioinformatic Contract Research Organization (CRO)

Follow software development best practices

Communicate with internal data and bioinformatic stakeholders frequently, create presentations, and lead tutorials

Investigates new methodologies, technologies and experimentation
- Provide clear decisions to direct reports and colleagues to facilitate the fast-paced culture
Requirements
-
MS or PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field
-
10+ years of software engineering experience in an industry setting in the bioinformatics and genomics space, or equivalent PhD dissertation work product (title commensurate with experience)

Demonstrated ability to organize and develop a bioinformatics function and the ecosystem to deliver quality results on time and in scope/budget

Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams and get results through others

Capable of building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions

A good decision-maker, with proven success at making timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward

Cross-disciplinary and strong analytic skills, as well as broad experience with bioinformatics methods, software and computer programming languages (eg. R, Python)

Successful track record establishing strong relationships across a global organization

Strong problem solving and analytical abilities at a strategic and functional level

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills

Experience working with GxP and non-GxP data

Proficiency in relational database design and maintenance

Proficiency with AWS
- Proficiency with Linux and shell scripting
