We are looking for an experienced bioinformatician to provide support for academic users of the University of Bristol Genomics facility and to teach on our Bioinformatics Masters course.
What will you be doing?
The role holder will be working as part of the Genomics Facility team, a core facility located in the Life Sciences Building, providing bioinformatics services and support to researchers at Bristol University and external institutions. They will contribute creative and innovative solutions in bioinformatics and have some teaching and project supervision responsibilities on the MSc Bioinformatics programme. They will provide a specialist service, guidance and training of others in carrying out sophisticated analysis techniques and will be responsible for driving the development and progression of Bioinformatics services at Bristol University.

Candidates will need to find creative bioinformatics solutions to answer bespoke biological questions across a wide range of biological subject areas. They will have the ability to produce custom data analysis and visualisation pipelines in PYTHON/PERL and R and run jobs on our HPC cluster. A relevant masters degree with or higher with a strong bioinformatics component and a publication track record to demonstrate the application of these skills will be essential.
