The selected candidate will work with a small team to apply sequence-based genotyping approaches using state of the art instrumentation. The candidate will be responsible for performing various plate-based molecular biology protocol steps along a high throughput process that turns a plant DNA sample into a DNA sequencing library and then into DNA sequence data.Major Tasks and responsibilities Work within a group of laboratory scientist that perform: DNA sample quantitation, 96 well plate-based enzymatic steps for DNA sequencing library production, and other sample and reagent preparation steps using various liquid handling instruments Record and summarize sample preparation steps in a laboratory notebook Work well with others, contribute to team synergy Ensure compliance to Safety and Stewardship programsThe Main Objective of this FunctionSample processing for production of sequence-based genotyping data for all cotton and soybean molecular breeding projectsWork Relations Reports to the Crop Genetics Team Leader Works with members of the Crop Genetics Team, Crop Analytics LabQualifications BS with minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a high throughput or research laboratory Good working knowledge of and experience in the field of molecular biology Creative and flexible thinking while maintaining attention to organizational detail Proficient verbal, written, and presentation skills. Proficient in MS Office Applications. Candidate will contribute to the teams success by completing sample submissions with quality data on time and improving the process.Major Tasks and responsibilities As a member of this team, you will efficiently plan and execute molecular analyses of transgenes utilizing different tools and technologies, for example ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay). Carry out experiments from planning the experimental set-up, through performing the experiment, to a thorough evaluation and reporting of the results. The execution of the work involves the use of plant materials and the proper handling of chemicals and instruments including automation in the laboratory Work well with others, contribute to team synergy Ensure compliance to Safety and Stewardship programsThe Main Objective of this FunctionThoroughly characterize trait genes in our research pipeline at nucleic acid and protein levels.Work Relations Reports to the Molecular Evaluation Team Leader Works with members of the Molecular Evaluation Team in Trait ResearchQualifications BS in Biology or related field Demonstrated experience with protein and nucleic acid manipulation techniques including purification and quantification Expertise in generating and analyzing protein and/or RNA expression data using multiple technologies Creative problem-solving skills, strong planning and organizational capabilities, strong time management skills and the ability to multitask. Good communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus. Detail and accuracy-oriented. Familiarity with molecular biology software and data management tools
