The role 

 

In this role you will be supporting customers facing the challenge of processing and analysing vast amount of genomics data.  You will develop technical, support and commercial skills as you help leading scientists and companies across EMEA maximise their use of Illumina’s growing portfolio of bioinformatics products. We provide support for all Illumina bioinformatics products such as BaseSpace Sequence Hub, DRAGEN, Illumina Analytics platform (ICA) and TruSight Software Suite (TSS).  

 

 

 

Responsibilities will include 

  • You will become an expert of various Illumina data analysis tools and provide a whole range of support activities such as pre-sale demos, customer onboarding & training, and technical troubleshooting.  You will not only interact with our customers, but also work closely with other Illumina teams such as Software Development, Marketing, Sales, and Scientific Affairs.   

  • Along with members of the wider team, you’ll actively participate in proof-of-concept studies and various customer collaboration projects. 

  • You will work with our clinical and research customers, defining their needs and identifying and sometimes implementing software/bioinformatics solutions to meet the needs, becoming a key part in the success of many of the most exciting genomics studies in the world. 

  • You will be involved in new product commercialization engagements – Illumina is actively developing new bioinformatics software tools.  With the team, you will support beta test and early access in customer sites and support customer adoption of the new tools. 

 

 

Preferred Background & Qualifications:  

 

  • Degree or MSc in Bioinformatics, Molecular Genetics, Clinical Genetics or related field 

  • Experience in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data analysis 

  • Solid understanding of Molecular Genetics and Genomics  

  • Knowledge in clinical genetics a plus 

  • Experience in using Linux command line interface (CLI) 

  • Interest in and ideally experience with programming languages such as Python, R 

  • Knowledge of cloud computing environment a plus 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Ability to communicate complicate topics with bioinformaticians, IT staff, laboratory personnel  

  • A self-driven team player
