Second, please find one or more datasets in this application area (hints: you can use Kaggle, Google Dataset Search, Havard Dataverse, or other dataset search platforms for this task). Make sure it is in the form of one or more tables so that it can be loaded into Tableau in the future. Don’t select datasets provided by Tableau or datasets that have been used in Tableau online tutorials.
Third, prepare a list of four or more questions about the data set that are difficult to be answered by Excel or data mining approaches alone.
Here are a few examples of good questions:
1. Are there any seasonal changes in Airbnb house rental prices? Does the seasonal pattern vary from year to year or location to location?
2. Are there any relationships between Airbnb house rental price and location, season, year, and the number of houses a host manages?
Here are a few examples of low-quality questions that are not acceptable:
1. How to create a scatterplot in Tableau? -It is not related to data exploration. It is just the technique challenge you need to overcome.
2. Which house had the highest rental price in 2007 in New York City? – This question can be answered using a sorting function in Excel. You don’t need to use Tableau for it.
3. What is the relation between the rental price and house area? – This type of 2-variable relation question can be easily answered by a scatterplot in Excel. Please include at least three variables (time or locations can be counted as a variable) in such “relation” questions.
