Job: Sr Bioinformatics Software Engineer (Dragen)

Job Description

Position Summary:

We are looking for a highly driven and talented bioinformatics engineer or software engineer to join the DRAGEN verification Team.

The team focus on developing tools to analyze large genomic datasets, setting up a CI/CD and automated testing infrastructure and improving the databases and websites that we use for the verification activities.

Responsibilities: 

  • Work independently in cross-functional teams to lead the testing effort for data analysis software

  • Partner with software, bioinformatics developers and domain experts in designing, performing, and improving verification tests

  • Design and Implement automated software verification framework and scripts

  • Prepare necessary test artifacts required for formal software / product release

  • Develop and execute automated tests

  • Carefully analyze and report test results

  • Participate in Code and Design Reviews

  • Ensure Software Development Life Cycle procedures are followed

  • Collaborate with peers to identify opportunities for process improvement

Requirements: 

  • Experience developing software applications utilizing a high level language such as Python, Java, C# or C++ required

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals: OOP, data structures, SOLID principles, unit testing, TDD, SQL

  • Masters / PhD with at least 5 years of relevant experience

  • Have an understanding of Bioinformatics, Genomics, Molecular Biology, Oncology or related field of biology

  • Experience in designing or architecting automated verification framework and tests

  • Experience with CI/CD, Continuous Testing and related tools such as Jenkins

  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS and docker.

  • Experience working in a Linux environment. Experience administrating a Linux system is a plus

  • Experience writing scripts in bash or other scripting language

  • Experience in formal verification of software or system in a regulated environment (ex. medical device etc.)

  • Working experience with software or system verification & validation

  • Be curious, detail oriented, and analytical, with a proven ability to learn quickly

  • Be customer-focused, team-oriented, and motivated, taking ownership of assigned tasks

  • Have proven ability to self-manage, as well as manage interdisciplinary relationships

  • Good verbal and written communication and troubleshooting skills
