Vacancy Description
The Computational Biology and Chemogenomics team develops and applies state-of-the-art computational approaches and data analyses to inform and support drug discovery. The team is integrated within the drug discovery teams and forms a critical part of CTU drug discovery projects, across all drug discovery phases. We inform experimental design; derive innovative data analysis pipelines, using state of the art tools and bespoke methodologies. Our activities also include integrating novel findings with existing multidisciplinary knowledge and generating experimentally testable hypotheses contributing to the success of drug discovery projects. The team is also part of the ICR’s Department of Data Science which provides team members access to broader Data Science and computational expertise and capabilities.
The role focuses on the development and provision of broad, state-of-the art bioinformatics analysis to support drug discovery and will involve both applying bioinformatics and the development of pipelines to support these.
Applicants should hold a degree in Cancer Biology, Genetics, Computer Science or associated subject, with established programming and scripting experience, and several years of experience in applying NGS and broad bioinformatics analyses. Experience with nextflow, R shiny and cancer informatics is desirable.
The full salary range for the grade is £43,000 – £56,000 per annum. Appointments are normally made at the start of the range which represents the market rate for the role but consideration will be given to experience and skills. Future progression is based on annual performance review.
