Research Faculty or Postdoc position in neurobiology and bioinformatics

A postdoctoral associate or research faculty position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Shtutman at the Department of Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences at the College of Pharmacy.

                The main research focus of the lab is drugs repurposing for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. The collaborative project with Dr. Ilya Safro (Dept of Computer and Informatics Sciences, University of Delaware) aimed to apply an integrative AI-based approach to analyze biomedical datasets and Electronic Health Records to discover repurposed drug candidates for the treatment of HIV-associated Neurocognitive Disorder and Substance Use Disorder. The applicant is expected to work in collaboration with computer scienctists in testing of AI-based tools. Candidate should have knowledge in neuroscience and neuropharmacology/physchopharmacology. Experience in statistical data analysis is desired. Dr Shtutman’s laboratory is also heavily engaged in genomic studies in organisms ranging from conventional laboratory mice to unconventional rodent models. The candidate is expected to contribute to the analyses of complex genomic data and therefore, a background in bioinformatic is desired.

Depending on qualifications/experience appointment at the level of Research Assistant professor will be considered.

Qualifications required:  PhD or MD/PhD degree. Strong publication record.  Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and team skills. Highly motivated and creative. Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team is a prerequisite
