Background and Aims: Cytoplasmatic hybrids (cybrids) are widely used in scientific researches as a cell
model for investigating different human diseases. The aim of the present study was
creation of cybrid lines with mtDNA mutation m.14846G>A. In our preliminary studies,
it was found that, after reaching the threshold level of heteroplasmy, mutation m.14846G>A
had a protective effect in atherosclerosis (17.5%).
