This is a great opportunity to join a global diagnostics genomic provider in Oxford who is looking for an NGS Scientist to join their research and development team. The company aims to aid in the development and progression of genetic-based medicine to allow clinicians and doctors to make the right treatment decisions for patients.
This role will be reporting into the Head of Development and play an integral role in product development including preparation, sequencing, bioinformatics and data interpretation.
This role will be an excellent for someone who wants to perform lab-based research and develop innovative products within a commercial environment. You will be responsible for your own projects and work within a small, collaborative team.
Your duties will include:
*Develop and assist in the development and release of new products, technologies and methodologies
*Devise, coordinate and conduct experiments, analyse results and determine best courses of action to achieve targets
*Identify data and machine issues; troubleshoot and find solutions
*Attend R&D meetings, present data from ongoing and complete experiments
*Oversee technical transfers, store documents appropriately and keep track of necessary experimental and technical information
They are looking for the following skills/qualifications:
*Minimum of BSc in Life Science
*Demonstratable experience in sequencing-based molecular approaches, design and development of molecular biology assays (NGS and others)
*Demonstrate hands-on experience of targeted NGS assay workflow execution
*Have effective IT skills enabling you to analyse, summarise and present complex datasets
*Be able to multitask effectively and perform complex studies in parallel, with minimal supervision
*Have previously worked independently and be able to show evidence of this
