‘Don’t Do This’ At Pittsfield Varsity Game

Pittsfield Public Schools Superintendent Joe Curtis is imploring that younger students do not attend the upcoming game if they are not accompanied by a parent or guardian, according to Pittsfield Public Schools.

The Pittsfield Public Schools are excited to host the annual Pittsfield High vs. Taconic High Varsity Football game, scheduled for this Friday, October 22nd at Berkshire Community College.

We view these school athletic events as wonderful opportunities for our community to gather, socialize, and showcase the hard work of our city’s student-athletes.

Law enforcement personnel and event management administrators are in attendance at games to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants and spectators in attendance.  However, having a number of unaccompanied children in attendance at these events creates significant challenges in ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.   With this in mind, please note that any elementary or middle school students who attend a game MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Elementary and middle school students will not be allowed entrance to the game – including this Friday’s Pittsfield High vs. Taconic High football game – without the supervision of their parents or guardians.  Elementary or middle school students who arrive at Berkshire Community College without this supervision will be asked to remain at the entrance gate until a parent or guardian can be reached to come and pick them up.

IMPORTANT:  We also kindly remind all athletic event spectators that no backpacks are allowed to be brought into athletic facilities. For the safety of all in attendance, spectators carrying personal belongings such as backpacks, will not be allowed entrance into games.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation as we must work together as a community to keep everyone safe.
