This is a good option for you if you are just about to go to university. For people that are already working, online data science programs could be a better alternative. Several summer programs are reputable for making data scientists in a short time. Whereas you can join this without a background in data science, it is unlikely that you will obtain skills and knowledge that employers will consider. Most of the individuals who enroll in these programs are those with Ph.D. degrees and other advanced degrees. For them, it is their way of expanding what they already know about data science.
Nonetheless, data science is a highly interactive field. To be good at it, you must research and study a lot. It would help if you also practiced it since it also involves a lot of technical work.
