We are developing a radically-new, instrument-free product for single-cell sequencing with disruptive throughput and experimental ease. We are growing our Cambridge Bioinformatics team to help launch a new era of cellular analysis for research and medicine.

Position Summary

We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our Bioinformatics team. The Bioinformatics team is charged with developing and supporting CS Genetics’ end-to-end data analysis bioinformatics pipelines for both the internal R&D department and external customers. The ideal candidate will be a rigorous, analytical and organised professional with significant experience in NGS Bioinformatics sequencing data processing and downstream analysis. They will have a keen professional interest in applying their expertise to radically innovative technology development in single cell genomics. They will be routinely interacting with our internal R&D team to facilitate further technology development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help develop and maintain CS Genetics’ internal and external bioinformatics pipelines
  • Interact and support CS Genetics’ R&D team to facilitate technology development
  • Perform on-demand bespoke computational and Bioinformatics analysis
  • Develop new bioinformatic tools for single cell genomics that brings the best out of our innovative technologies to scientists and other end-users globally
  • Communicate internally via oral updates, written reports, and technical meetings

Required Skills and Background

  • Degree in a relevant quantitative discipline (e.g. Computational Biology, Genetics/Genomics, Bioinformatics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics), or a degree in a relevant experimental discipline (e.g. Molecular or Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering) with significant direct academic and/or professional experience in bioinformatics 
  • Proven understanding and experience in the fields of genomics, data processing and high-throughput data analysis
  • Experience programming in high level scripting languages (python, R)
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills to allow efficient interactions with collaborators
  • Demonstrable good time management and project management skills
  • Enthusiasm for a demanding, fast-paced role in a small-startup environment

Desired Skills and Background

  • High-impact publications
  • Ideally experience with single cell data analysis
  • Experience with bioinformatics workflow tools (preferably Nextflow)
  • Experience developing statistical methods for the analysis of sequencing data sets
