The facility offers a service for high-quality protein production in E. coli, insect and mammalian cells, whilst also maintaining a state-of-the-art biophysics platform for protein characterization and interaction studies.

Your role

The new staff member’s main responsibility will be to perform recombinant protein expression and purification experiments in insect and mammalian cells . She/he will be expected to discuss the project needs with individual users and then develop a suitable strategy for the construct design, expression and purification of the requested recombinant proteins. Quality control of the purified proteins will be done in close collaboration with the facility’s biophysics platform. Furthermore, the new scientific officer will also take part in the development and optimization of novel methods and protocols with the aim of developing robust and efficient pipelines adapted to the requirements of our users.

You have

The minimum requirement for this position is a degree in biochemistry, molecular biology or in a closely related scientific area. Expertise in the field of protein expression in eukaryotic cells on the milligram scale and a broad experience with protein purification using a combination of chromatographic techniques on automated chromatography workstations is absolutely essential. Teamwork, flexibility, strong organizational skills and the ability to interact with a varied multicultural user community are expected. Fluency in English is required.
