Contract type: Fixed term for 10 months Hours: Full-time THIS VACANCY IS FOR INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY About the role We are looking for a Postdoctoral Scientist with Bioinformatics Expertise to work with us in the IGF Group, Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, University of Oxford. You will be based in the NDS Lab in the Radiobiology Research Institute, Oxford, working closely with other members of the group and collaborating scientists.

You will be responsible for key aspects of an innovative project that is investigating links between high circulating IGF-1 and cancer risk. You will contribute to overall project planning, with responsibility for analysing public and in-house sequencing data, selection of genes and pathways for further investigation, and performing experimental validations. Therefore, it is essential that you possess skills in bioinformatics in addition to wet lab cell and molecular biology techniques.

About you You will have or be near to completion of a PhD/DPhil in Cancer Biology or a related subject. It will be essential to possess dual skills in bioinformatics especially transcriptomic analysis, and in wet-lab techniques to quantify protein/gene expression and function. You will be enthusiastic and highly motivated to manage your own academic research and contribute to the smooth running of the laboratory. Preferred candidates will be familiar with IGF biology and techniques to quantify IGF axis activity.

This full-time post is available immediately and is fixed-term until December 2022.
