Thermo Fisher Invitrogen TrueTag Donor DNA Kits

Thermo Fisher Scientific has launched Invitrogen TrueTag Donor DNA kits for cell line engineering with CRISPR-Cas9 or TALEN technology. They allow researchers to enrich tagged cells and skip clonal isolation. The kits support four types of locus-specific knock-in templates and feature a one-step PCR workflow. They come with integrated Invitrogen TrueDesign Genome Editing software.

Guardant Health Shield

Guardant Health has launched Shield, the company’s first blood-based test for the detection of early-stage colorectal cancer. The test is performed on a simple blood draw sample and is intended for adults age 45 and older who are not up to date with recommended screening guidelines, show no symptoms, and are at average risk for CRC. In a 300-patient validation, the test showed 91 percent sensitivity, including 90 percent sensitivity for Stage I, 97 percent for Stage II, and 86 percent for Stage III cancers, and 20 percent sensitivity for advanced adenomas, with 92 percent specificity.

EmpowerDx Celiac Risk Gene Test

EmpowerDx has launched its at-home Celiac Risk Gene Test, which uses mouth swab samples to analyze three human leukocyte antigen markers that may indicate the disease. The test is $199 and results are returned 10 business days after sample receipt. The molecular testing is performed by Eurofins Donor & Product Testing.
