Postdoc in Bioinformatics, Medical Informatics or Biostatistics

The postdoc position is part of the research group “Molecular Neuropathology” (AG Prof. Capper) at the Institute for Neuropathology at the Charité Universitätsmedizin.

The group deals with genetic and epigenetic changes in brain tumors and other tumors and has a focus on translational diagnostic applications (transfer of experimental diagnostic methods to clinical practice).

Description

The job holder should further develop an infrastructure for processing and storing genomic and epigenomic data.

Furthermore, the collected data should be analyzed exploratively with the aim of deepening the understanding of tumor development and possible optimization of therapy.

Your Profile

  • Master’s degree in the field of bioinformatics, medical informatics or a similar degree, doctorate desirable
  • Extensive experience in dealing with Linux, the statistical programming language R and script language (e.g. Bash or Phython)
  • Experience with Git or other version control software is an advantage
  • Experience in the administration and storage of data (construction of a NAS, data backup routines, etc.) or willingness to familiarize yourself with this
  • Experience in the analysis of genetic / epigenetic array data and/or next generation sequencing data is helpful, but not a mandatory requirement
  • Experience with database development (Access / VBA, handling Structured Query Language if necessary) or willingness to familiarize yourself with it
  • Very good knowledge of English, knowledge of German desirable
  • Independent, committed and reliable way of working
  • Willingness to experiment, openness to further technical developments
  • Flexibility, ability to work in a team

The position is initially limited to 2 years, with the possibility of prolongation.

The position can in principle be part-time.
