I feel a bit deceived at my current company, curious if i’m just ignorant to this hiring practice.
Was hired 4 months ago under the title ‘Bioinformatics Engineer’. Found out the other day I’m actually ranked as a Research Specialist. Theres not a single person in this company that is on the research specialist track that has some other title. Out of the blue my supervisor one day tells me she wants to let me know my rank in case it wasn’t clear and oh, oops, you know the company isn’t very good at being clear about this stuff. Felt pretty slighted about that since I do not have a PhD, grinded my way through academia, and through 4 jobs in academia/industry have never NOT moved up in title. Anyway, curious if anyone has seen this style of roles.
