Corteva Agriscience is seeking two highly capable and motivated 3 month interns to develop and deploy computational biology solutions by leveraging their knowledge of best practices to solve meaningful challenges in the areas of bioinformatics and computational biology using high performance computing. As part of our R&D data science group, you’ll be applying your talent to develop and enhance our core data and analytical capabilities for large-scale agricultural pan-genome and multi-omic research datasets. You will be developing comparative and graph-based genomics methods to characterize and quantify genic and genomic variation for use in gene editing and other applications.
You will collaborate closely with a diverse and global team of experienced and talented professionals to drive innovation in a dynamic and exciting research environment. The Research Intern program is a great way to gain real-world exposure and build experience by applying your skills to state-of-the-art bioinformatics projects under the guidance of a mentor. As a part of this team, you will be directly contributing to scientific advancements that will help enable more sustainable and secure access to food for all of humanity.
Responsibilities – What You’ll Do:

Identify and generate datasets for scientific testing and evaluation of algorithms

Plan, develop and deploy quality bioinformatics and analytical methods for genome sequence data

Regularly communicate results, interpretation, and conclusions of analytical projects including the confidence of predictions and suggest future directions to expand upon the work

Quantitatively evaluate and analyze complex scientific problems and work efficiently with large volumes of data.

Develop new ways to access, visualize, and interpret data
Qualifications – What You’ll Bring:

A graduate or advanced undergraduate student in good standing with a demonstrated focus on bioinformatics, computer science, data science, genetics, machine learning, molecular biology, statistics or a related field

Proficiency with Python. Additional technologies, languages, and web development is a plus.

Experience with Linux-based cloud computing environments. Experience with containerization is a plus.

Knowledge of genetics and genomics data analysis is a plus
