Institut Pasteur de Dakar hiring Bioinformatics Analyst in Dakar, Senegal

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated bioinformatician to join the Epidemiology, Clinical Research, and Data Science department at the Institut Pasteur de Dakar. The selected candidate will develop and apply bioinformatics methods to support multiple projects in the area of next-generation sequencing and -omics.

Minimum qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Genetics, Biology, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field (Master’s is preferred)

Candidate profile

  • Proficiency in R and/or Python for the analysis of high dimensional biological datasets
  • General knowledge of Next-Generation Sequencing data types
  • Proficiency in testing, developing and deploying NGS pipelines
  • Strong foundational knowledge in Linux/UNIX-based systems
  • Basic knowledge in statistical theory and methodologies
  • Ability to query and leverage data from publicly-available -omics databases
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with good interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational skills: track project progress and report results
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (English and French)
  • Perform other related duties as needed and required by supervisor

Pluses

  • Experience with Git, Conda, Docker, Apptainer, Nextflow
  • Familiarity with software development best practices
