The Krogan lab at the Quantitative Biosciences Institute (QBI) at UCSF is looking for a seasoned, experienced, analytical Senior Bioinformatics Programmer with a broad understanding of computational algorithms, systems and their application to omics and related systems-level biological data analysis. You will identify and resolve a wide range of software, computational, statistical and scientific issues. You will be expected to demonstrate good judgment in selecting and evaluating methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. You should be able to operates independently, interface with lab management to support a small bioinformatics team, and act as technical lead and mentor for more junior bioinformatics professionals and other lab members. You will work with a diverse, dynamic, and highly interactive team of scientists with ongoing investigations in infectious diseases, neurological and psychiatric disorders, cancer, and the development of treatments and drug identification.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% – 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
