Post-doctoral Fellow in Digital Humanities job with THE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONG

Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Digital Humanities in the School of Humanities (Ref.: 520290), to commence on or before August 1, 2023 for a period of two years.

Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field at the time of appointment. This position is open to all areas of specialization within the digital humanities or an adjacent discipline, including cultural analytics, digital media studies, critical data studies, critical infrastructure studies, and cultural data science.

The appointee will be affiliated with Dr. Javier Cha’s research group, the Big Data Studies Lab (BDSL, https://bigdatastudies.net/).  Applicants should submit research proposals on topics that fall within BDSL’s remit, such as digital preservation, data authentication, big data and the environment, cultural analytics, virtuality and time, and the road to web3. Applicants should demonstrate an excellent command of written and spoken English as well as proficiency in at least one pertinent computing skill (e.g., Python, SQL, NoSQL, digital forensics, machine learning, etc.). The appointee will be expected to teach two courses (one per year) in the Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Digital Technologies programme during the term of their appointment. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
