Staff scientist in biostatistics and bioinformatics – Strasbourg

Employer The team is studying the functional genomics of diseases involving the immune system. For this purpose, “omics” approaches (genomics, transcriptomics, scRNAseq, proteomics, etc.) are used to better understand the pathophysiology of these diseases. Our objective is in particular to develop new biomarkers allowing an earlier diagnosis of these immune disorders. Website : Position and assignments MISSIONS The staff scientist will be in charge of biostatistical analyses and the implementation of high-throughput sequencing data analysis tools. He/She should be able to meet the different biostatistical needs of the team. He/She should know how to use and implement innovative methods necessary for the analysis of “omics” data and in particular single cell RNA-sequencing. He/She will be confronted with a wide variety of sequencing techniques, new biostatistics/bioinformatics approaches and significant computer resources. ACTIVITIES Main activities: Biostatistical analyses of complex genomic data Development of new analysis models and algorithms Development and improvement of dedicated software tools and information systems Definition and choice, in accordance with the team, of the most appropriate analytic strategies to be implemented Associated activities: Presentation of results in meetings and dissemination of knowledge internally Know how to advise and provide analysis solutions to answer biological/medical questions Geographic mobility: No business trip Starting date 2023-05-02 Profile REQUESTED SKILLS Know-how about the professional environment: Good knowledge of high-throughput sequencing technologies Good knowledge of a distributed system under Linux Know how to work in interaction with several teams of researchers Operational know-how: Programming languages: JAVA, PYTHON, PERL, R, Bioconductor, SQL, HTML, PHP Database management system (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle,…) Analysis of single cell transcriptomics data In-depth statistical methods and analyses Ground knowledge in biology and genetics, particularly in next-generation sequencing Good command of written and spoken English Soft skills: Good organizational skills Sense of priorities Autonomy Teamwork
