TCS is Catching Up in Generative AI

Amid the scepticism around generative AI in the enterprise sector, the next move in the AI realm by the Indian IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is here. Chairman N Chandrasekaran stated in a shareholder letter that it is making significant investments in enhancing its AI capabilities

This comes only a week after its rival Infosys unveiled Topaz – a platform with a set of services and solutions leveraging generative AI.

TCS is catching up now and is focusing on developing AI-powered products and platforms. Additionally, TCS plans to collaborate with global academic partners and startup ecosystems to invest in research areas crucial for the future. The company wants to invest in energy and supply chain through AI transitions.

Chandrasekaran emphasised that TCS has utilised partnerships to create a fully indigenous software-defined 4G/5G network stack, and the integration of 5G technologies, IoT, edge computing, and AI will unlock new opportunities for digital transformation in various industries.

Chandrasekaran explained that TCS collaborates with large enterprises to drive transformation initiatives, establishing a digital foundation for the future while leveraging data and AI to enable strategic advantages and enhance customer and employee experiences. 

Last month, TCS partnered with Google Cloud for offering generative AI services for its customers. This included offering Google’s generative AI services through Vertex AI, Generative AI Application Builder, and Model Garden, paired with TCS’ own solutions.

TCS announced its financial results for the fiscal fourth quarter, reporting a net profit of Rs 11,392 crore. This figure represents a 5% increase compared to the previous quarter.

How is the IT world

The IT giant is moving aggressively to catch up with others in the generative AI race. Recently, TCS also announced that it is working on developing its own alternative to GitHub Copilot, to revamp enterprise code generation. 

Presently, numerous Indian IT companies assert their engagement in the development of generative AI solutions for clients. Recently, Cognizant introduced an extensive platform called Cognizant Neuro AI, which surpasses mere experimentation and proof-of-concepts. 

Accenture recently published a study titled “A New Era of Generative AI for Everyone,” which explores the realm of generative AI and LLMs. 

In contrast, Tech Mahindra takes a unique approach with its Generative AI Studio, empowering businesses with a user-friendly interface that enables extensive customisation options for their content. Meanwhile, Capgemini asserts its distinctive advantage in deploying generative AI solutions.
