Senior Bioinformatics Scientist – Administration – Swedish First Hill 1124 Columbia-Seattle(HR)

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm

The Senior Informatics Scientist will lead the development of dry lab resources and the design, development and implementation of advanced research data workflows and analysis. They will utilize high-performance computing and data management infrastructure designed specifically to meet the computational needs of translational research , with an emphasis on immuno-oncology, molecular and genomic data and disease prevention and early detection. They will also be responsible to identify user needs of Investigators, identify resource gaps and develop solutions to deliver data.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Health Informatics, Bioinformatics, or related field, and 7 years of professional experience in medical research or
  • Ph. D. in Health Informatics, Bioinformatics, or related field, and 5 years of professional experience in medical research. (Ph.D. preferred to Master’s)
  • Demonstrated experience in accelerating or developing novel clinical applications with the use of biomarker or mechanism-based patient or indication selection
  • Experience with large scale clinical data warehousing
  • Working experience in cloud-based platforms, especially as it relates to HIPAA compliance and handling Protected Health Information data
  • Demonstrated history of applying best practices in bioinformatics, including use of code repositories, version control, data and analysis provenance, containers, testing frameworks, continuous integration, and documentation
  • Experience with multiple vendors of cloud and high performance computing technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NGS data analysis experience and integration of health informatics
  • Significant and broad computational experience, including experience with large scale projects involving the integration of health informatics data with bioinformatics data from platforms like NGS
  • Experience in clinical cancer genomics
  • Experience with scalable, distributed computing systems
